USED TOURING MOTORBIKES FOR SALE IN HANOI
If guided or unguided motorbike tours are not what you are after? In addition, you really want something for your own? Because you ride for many days in Vietnam or into other countries? Vietnam Motorbike Rental has some used touring motorbikes for sale, all are genuine Japanese Honda products and no Chinese (a really big NO NO) copy cats or noisy metal pieces like many shops offer in Hanoi, Northern Vietnam. A real Honda costs much more than a Chinese or Russian bike. We are more concerned with performance, safety, and comfort when you ride. Your insurance, in most cases, is not valid in the country. Therefore, get a good touring motorbike and flow with the traffic. You need some mechanic basics and handle things as you go when you buy a touring bike in Vietnam.
Why Is Honda Brand The Best Used Touring Motorbikes?
Honda is the most popular brand, Vietnamese people refer to Honda as a motorbike by default. In fact, they are the most reliable motorbike brand on the road and hold their value better than any brand, you can simply look at the traffic and at least 70% of bikes are Honda. There is a variety of makes and models, some date back to the 1960′s. Most of the Hondas in Vietnam are step-through mopeds or automatic scooters. Manual clutch bikes are hard to find and are usually in poor conditions. Road bikes come with low handlebars so if you are over 1.7m, you can get a number of aches and pains when riding for a few hours. Raised handlebars offer a solution but then the steering is not so good. Dirt/trail bikes are the best but they are very very hard to find and at a much higher cost.
Buying a Honda would be the safest bet because many mechanics have parts and knowledge on these bikes and it is not prone to break down.
Due to high taxes (100-120%), imported touring motorbikes cost more than most of the countries, including yours.
You can come, check and ride test the bikes anytime between 8am and 12pm and 2pm to 5pm between Monday and Saturday. We are closed on Sunday.
Below is a list of used touring motorbikes and scooters for sale in Hanoi from Vietnam Motorbike Rental. Our smallest scooter is 110cc and 150cc and they give you good power, not like Chinese Win (advertised as Honda Win – straight out a lie) 100-110cc that many shops offer between 100-400$US. These bikes are available to be collected in Hanoi only.
2013 – 2015 Scooter Honda Wave & Blade 110cc (650-700$US each)
Vietnam Motorbike Rental has been using this type of motorbikes since 2006. In fact, we upgrade to a newer fleet very regularly. The used scooters above for sale are in great condition, well serviced, have all replacements needed, and work like champs.
Made in between 2013 and 2015 in Vietnam, single-cylinder, 4 rotary speeds, 100kg, disc or drum brakes, and delivers around 9HP. The wheels come with 17″ front and back which make small potholes very easily. All used scooters for sale have electric and kick-start which makes it easy to start the bike if the battery is low. Available in varied colors. Recent service, maintenance, and replacements assure them in good working conditions.
2016 Honda Winner 150cc Manual Clutch Touring Scooters (1,250$US each)
Honda Winner is a 150cc manual clutch, 6 gears (1-N-2-3-4-5-6) touring scooter that Honda Vietnam introduced in 2016. It quickly became the major competitor of Yamaha Exciter which was introduced about 10 years earlier. Honestly speaking, the power, technology, and quality are somewhat better than its rival. However, the seat is thin and hard like a dirt bike and the design looks like a bigger Honda Wave scooter that forces Honda to sell this bike under the expected price. It’s really a good deal to own a Winner in 150cc range, just like its name suggests.
All bikes come with legal blue registration papers.
Honestly, they work as near new bikes. You will have a lot of mileage to ride over the coming years. Honda is a legend in Vietnam and you can find semi-automatic scooters everywhere, some can be over 50 years old and still work!
Note about used touring motorbikes
As a note, most of the used touring motorbikes for sale in Vietnam are a Chinese copy of the Honda Win 100cc. They can be more trouble than fun. For more information please check it here. We never use this model nor consider it as a touring bike, our smallest touring bike is 110cc, a bit bigger!
Just contact us if you want to buy any of our used touring motorbikes. We will get back with more details as soon as we have time.
How much is the deposit fee for the rental of the honda blade?
Hi Mark. It depends on where you ride and duration of the rental. The deposit can either be your passport, country driving license or 5 million VN Dongs.
Motorcycle with sidecar. Any available for sale?
Hello Andrew. Sadly, our friend who dealt with side-cars already stopped doing it so we are not able to recommend anyone. However, you may try on Craiglist or some Facebook groups and contact individual sellers to purchase one. As we have no experience with side-cars, unfortunately, we couldn’t offer any further advice :( Good luck!
So my girlfriend and I are going to ride through Vietnam, top to bottom. I want a proper bike, no scooter. Can I rent in north and return in south? How much is rent on a bigger bik per month?
Hello Lew. If you want one-way rental we will need a full amount of the bike as a deposit and refund you the money minus rental plus train shipping back at the end of the trip. This is like a buy back office. We have no office down in HCMC so sadly we can’t have a better option.

1. I am Romanian cotizen with international motorcycle driving licence obtained in South Korea and legaly married vietnamese wife. Can I legaly buy this bike by myself, although having tourist visa only.
2. Can my wife buy this big motorbike on her name? She has got international car driving license obtained in South Korea. Is there any condition for her to be allowed to buy this bike.
3. If answer to the above is No, can my father in law buy this bike. He has got bietnamese car licence. Any other condition needed?

Good morning,
We are moving to Hanoi at the end of February. I would like to buy a new electric scooter (moped). Do you sell such scooters? If not, could you indicate me a trustworthy shop where I could buy one? Best regards, Sophie Dufour.
Dear Sophie. If you meant electric bike then sadly we don’t use this type of bike. However, there are many shops on Ba Trieu street that you can buy a new one from around 450$US. Good luck.
I heard that it is illegal for an expat to buy a motorbike in Vietnam, is it true?
and do you rent long term bikes? and how much per month if you do rent?
Do you have to have a permenant address in Vietnam to get a driver’s license?
Thank you for your help.
Sylvana
Hello Sylvana. Yes, you can’t own a bike in your name if you don’t have a resident card or a work permit. Tourists can’t register motorbikes in their names. However you can hire motorbikes which were registered in Vietnamese names. We offer long-term rentals from 50$US, 100$US and 120$US a month for expats working in Hanoi. These are semi-automatic or fully automatic scooters. International driving license is valid in Vietnam from 2015 and if you want a local Vietnamese driving license you need to have a bushiness visa and a work permit or a resident card as mentioned at this link. Let us know if you require more details.
Is the Baja Honda 250 still for sale? Price? please email me back.
Hello Mike. Yes, we have some for sale and the cost is from 1,500$US to 2,500$US each depending on conditions. All of these bikes come with fully legal papers, not like at least 90% of bikes without papers. If interested please call me on 0913047509 to view or test ride. Thanks.
Hi,
We are looking to buy a new motor tricycle?
Can you tell us where to find a shop in Hanoi?
Thanks,
P. De Roo
Dear Paul de Roo. Imported motorbikes from 150cc in Vietnam come with 120% taxes. There is no new side-car for sale in Vietnam and if there is one the cost must be from over 30,000$US. That’s too expensive and unfortunately no company imports them for sale in Hanoi. Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.
