OFF-ROAD MOTORBIKES FOR EXPERIENCED RIDERS IN VIETNAM
The minimum rental duration is at least two days due to the limited parking space in our area and our working hours (8am – 5pm, Monday to Saturday). Please let us know the details of your travel dates, rental duration, and riding area so we can provide a quotation.
Experienced riders or advanced bikers are those with many years of manual clutch motorbike riding experience. In addition, most have spent time riding off-road motorbikes in other countries. As a result, they are generally able to handle basic mechanical repairs if needed. Typically, they ride on a daily basis. The photo below shows a typical motorbike tour in Vietnam, either on-road or off-road.

Experienced riders visiting Vietnam often prefer longer distances or more challenging roads and off-road trails than less experienced riders. However, speed limits are relatively low (50-70km/h), so riding more than 200km per day can be tiring, as it may take up to six hours. We recommend planning your route and timing in advance. If you have a rough itinerary, we’ll be happy to provide comments and suggestions to help improve it.
Experienced riders also typically bring their own motorcycle safety riding gear.

In general, Vietnam is an excellent destination for a motorbike holiday, offering a wide variety of landscapes, scenic routes, and unforgettable riding experiences. However, riding conditions here are very different from those in many other countries, so it is important to adjust your expectations.
OFF-ROAD MOTORBIKES FOR EXPERIENCED RIDERS IN HANOI
Below are our recommended off-road motorcycles for experienced riders. All of these bikes are fully capable of taking you almost anywhere in Vietnam, from mountain passes and remote backroads to challenging off-road trails.
In general, the larger the motorcycle, the more comfortable and capable it is for long-distance touring and demanding terrain. However, due to Vietnam’s high import taxes – around 120% on large-displacement motorcycles – we are unable to offer bikes larger than 300cc. Motorcycles above this capacity typically cost more than US$12,000, making them impractical for rental fleets.
The good news is that every motorcycle listed below has been carefully selected for its reliability, durability, and suitability for Vietnam’s diverse riding conditions. Whether you’re planning an extended road trip or an off-road adventure, these bikes are proven performers that you can ride with confidence.
Honda CRF300L
The Honda CRF300L is one of the best choices for experienced riders looking to explore Vietnam on and off the beaten track. Built in Thailand and powered by a reliable 286cc single-cylinder engine, it offers an excellent balance of performance, comfort, and durability.
Lightweight, fuel-efficient, and easy to handle, the CRF300L is well suited to Vietnam’s mountain roads, remote backroads, and technical off-road trails. Whether you’re planning a short adventure or an extended tour, this motorcycle is capable of handling almost any terrain the country has to offer.
- Engine: 286cc
- Model Years: 2021 – 2022
- Manufactured in: Thailand
- Daily Rental Rate: US$50 (short or long trips, unlimited mileage)
- Monthly Rental Rate: Not available

Honda CRF250L
The Honda CRF250L is a proven dual-sport motorcycle that has earned an excellent reputation for reliability, versatility, and ease of handling. Manufactured in Thailand, it is an ideal choice for experienced riders looking to explore Vietnam’s paved roads, mountain passes, and off-road trails.
With its lightweight chassis, dependable 250cc engine, and comfortable riding position, the CRF250L performs well on both long-distance tours and technical off-road routes. It is easy to ride, economical to operate, and capable of handling the diverse terrain found throughout Vietnam.
- Engine: 249cc
- Model Years: 2014 – 2019
- Manufactured in: Thailand

CRF300L or CRF250L?
The Honda CRF250L and CRF300L share the same dual-sport DNA and are both excellent choices for riding throughout Vietnam. While they are very similar in design and capability, there are a few key differences.
The CRF250L has a slightly taller seat height and weighs a little more than the CRF300L. The newer CRF300L features a larger 286cc engine, delivering stronger low-end torque and improved overall performance. It also comes equipped with a slipper clutch, which provides smoother downshifts and reduces rear-wheel hop during aggressive braking or off-road riding.
In practice, both motorcycles perform exceptionally well on Vietnam’s roads and trails. Your choice will mainly depend on whether you prefer the CRF300L’s extra power and updated features, or the CRF250L’s proven simplicity and slightly taller riding position.
Honda XR150L
The Honda XR150L is an affordable and dependable dual-sport motorcycle, making it a great option for riders looking to explore Vietnam on a budget. Manufactured by Sundiro Honda in China, it combines Honda’s proven reliability with simple, easy-to-maintain mechanics.
Powered by a 150cc air-cooled engine, the XR150L is lightweight, fuel-efficient, and capable of handling both paved roads and light to moderate off-road terrain. While it doesn’t offer the power or suspension performance of the CRF250L or CRF300L, it is more than capable of tackling mountain roads, rural backroads, and gravel tracks throughout Vietnam.
The XR150L is particularly well suited to riders who value simplicity, low running costs, and dependable performance over outright speed or advanced off-road capability.
- Engine: 149cc
- Model Years: 2016 – 2020
- Manufactured by: Sundiro Honda, China
- Daily Rental Rate: US$20 (short or long trips, unlimited mileage)
- Monthly Rental Rate: Not available
From our experience and customer feedback, the Honda XR150L has been the most popular off-road rental motorbike. It is simple, durable, reliable, and very affordable, making it an excellent all-round choice for riding in Vietnam.
You may consider upgrading to a larger motorcycle if you are a very tall rider (over 1.9m) or if you require more power for your trip. Otherwise, the XR150L is an ideal bike for exploring Vietnam’s roads and trails.

Hello,
I am an experienced rider, I would like to rent a bike this Christmas, travelling from Hanoi to Da Lat, one way.
My wife will ride with me on the same motorbike, do you think the bike will be ok with the weight of 2 people and some luggage?
Best regards
Gigi.
Hello Gigi,
Thank you for contacting us.
We are based in Hanoi only and haven’t provided one-way motorbike rental from Hanoi to Da Lat yet. You can do some research online and contact companies who offer this service. With two people plus luggage, it’s not comfortable.
Good luck.
