SCOOTERS WE PROVIDE IN HANOI
Semi-automatic or semi-automatic is best for beginners or novice riders. In addition, if you are an expat who needs a commuter in Hanoi then this is it. In case you want to push your limit or like manual bikes we also have manual clutch scooters.
Due to parking space at our office and the Old Quarter and our working hours, short-term rental for one day is normally not available, you need to hire for at least two days. The rate is different on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, and also where you ride. Therefore, please include these details in your inquiry to have a correct quotation. Thank you!
Our bike fleet includes near new or latest models of scooters in Hanoi. Only genuine Honda products, no other brands, or Chinese fakes. Please take these details into account when you decide which bike to hire, ask about the bike model and year of manufacturing don’t just look at prices. In fact, our rates are competitive and the quality is among the best.
Generally speaking, beginners can still ride in Vietnam, but first, you need to get to know the traffic and Vietnam road rules. In case you need more information, please contact us.
To know which motorbike/scooter is the best for you, please watch the below video.
50cc Scooters, No Licence Required (year 2017 – 2021)
These are the smallest bikes you can hire in Hanoi. The good thing is you don’t need any licence to ride them. However, they are pretty small and can only accommodate one person. In addition, due to the small engine displacement, the power is pretty slow but for city traffic, who cares?
Due to the crazy prices of Japanese Honda 50cc scooters (2,000 – 3,000$US each), we only provide Taiwanese and Vietnamese brands. They are at our customers’ request, not our official service. As a promise, we will service them in the best condition possible and the feedback from our customers is very positive.
The rate of rental is 10$US/day (daily basis, unlimited mileage), 20-40$US (weekly basis), and 50$US-100$US (monthly basis for riding in Hanoi only, limited to 1,500km per month).
110-125cc Fully Automatic Scooters (year 2014 – 2021)
In general, this is the easiest option for beginners. However, be careful because there is no way you can control the transmission due to the automatic system. Take it easy and you will be fine.
Lightweight Honda Vision 110cc, made in Vietnam, 2014 – 2021 models. Daily rate: 10-12$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 60-80$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
Honda Air Blade 125cc, made in Vietnam, 2013-17 models. Daily rate: 15$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 80$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
Honda Lead 125cc, made in Vietnam, 2014-19 models. Daily rate: 15$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 80$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
Honda SH Mode 125cc, made in Vietnam, 2014 model. Daily rate: 15$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 100$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
Honda PCX 125cc, made in Vietnam, 2011-17 models. Daily rate: 15$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 80-100$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
110cc Semi-Automatic Scooters (year 2016 – 2019)
In fact, this is the most popular we provide to beginners. It’s easy enough to learn and it’s cheap enough to rent.
The clutch is automatic but you have the option of the gear shift. They have a four-rotary-gear system (all pressing down in the front). Once you change gears, they are like fully automatic scooters but give you the option for power and a gear braking system. Therefore, they are easy to ride and are safer than fully automatic bikes. Cheaper on fuel and repair as well.
Lightweight Honda Wave Alpha 110cc, made in Vietnam, 2016-18 models. Daily rate: 10$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 50$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
Honda Wave S, RS or RSX 110cc, made in Vietnam, 2013-18 models. Daily rate: 10$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 50$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
Honda Blade 110cc, made in Vietnam, 2015-19 models. Daily rate: 10$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 50$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
150cc Touring Scooters (year 2016 – 2022)
Finally, if you see this then you are not like most of the beginners. You want to take it a bit rough and want total control of the bike. However, make sure you at least know how manual clutch and gears work. Honestly, manual car drivers get over this without any difficulty. In reality, this is the biggest and also the most expensive scooter we offer in Hanoi.
Honda Winner / Winner X 150cc touring scooters, made in Vietnam, 2016-22 models. Daily rate: 15$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 100$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
Hello,
I want to rent a scooter for about 5 hours to ride around Hanoi. I am a beginner and will require some help learning. Is this possible?
Thanks!
Sorry we don’t offer that due to licence requirement and the risk of riding in Hanoi traffic. You need to do it in a quiet place where there is no or very little traffic :)

Hello,
We are two people interested in renting two automatic scooters (125cc or 155cc) for around 28 days from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. We would do this from around mid November to mid December.
Is this possible?
Best,
Tim Davalan
Dear Tim. We are sorry for this delay in replying. Sadly, we don’t have any automatic scooters available for your given dates. This year has been so busy and bikes are booked long ahead. Please do some research and contact other shops but I am not really sure who still has bikes at the moment. Good luck!
Hi
we are interested in organizing a trip, up to (5) people. We are looking for 150cc Scooters for traveling around Northern Vietnam. For up to (2) Weeks, would you be able to supply good reliable scooters of that size? Weather wise what would be the best time of year? We were thinking maybe November or Febuary.
Regards Rick
Hello Rick. The only 150cc scooter we provide is Honda Winner and it is a manual clutch under-bone type. Are you comfortable riding this kind of scooter? Sadly, we don’t have 150cc automatic scooters because they are extremely expensive here. FYI, we use only Japanese Honda motorbikes and they are not cheap. The best time is normally between October and January. February is a bit cold and misty at times.
Hi, I would be travelling to Vietnam soon and would like to rent a scooter there. I hold an Indian driving license for the same. So, is that valid there or would I need an international driving license?
Hello Purnima. Officially, your license and also Indian-issued IDP (under 1949 COnvention) are not accepted here. More details are at this link. However, many people still do it and the police are not so strict with different IDPs.
Hello, I am looking to do a trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi on dates 30th March – 8th April 2020, so I was wondering which bikes you had available at that time? My friend is an experienced rider, but I am inexperienced, so would like an easy to ride a manual motorbike. Thank you.
Hello Edward. Sadly, we are not able to provide the bikes because we are based in Hanoi only and unfortunately haven’t provided a one-way motorbike hire from HCMC yet. In addition, your riding experience and your number of days are too short so we don’t recommend doing this ride. Thanks.
Hi,
We would like to hire a scooter (possibly 125cc or 150cc) and ride from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh. Could you please fill me in regarding the matter? (cost, licence, insurance etc)
Thank you.
Baran.
Dear Baran,
Thank you for contacting us and sorry for this late reply.
Sadly, this is only available if you pay the full scooter deposit and get the refund (minus rental and any possible damage) when you return the scooter. What dates are you looking at? You didn’t provide this detail so we are not able to confirm the availability.
Hello Anh Wu,
What is your rate for 1 week (16-22 July) for 2 auto scooters please (only driving in Hanoi)? Also is there much difference between the Air Blade vs Lead?
Thanks :)
Hello Kevin. Sadly, we have no automatic scooter available for your dates. You can rent Honda semi-automatic Wave 110cc year 2013-2017 for 30$US/bike/week.
Hi I need to hire a bike for 2 days and I’m going down to Tam Coc what would cost me to hire.
Dear Crichton,
What are your dates, please? Currently, you can rent this Honda semi-automatic Wave 110cc year 2013-2017 for 10$US/day.
Hi, I want to know the rate per day for a semi-automatic scooter for self-drive/ride as I am gonna be in Hanoi month of July.
Hi Shishir. It depends on where you ride and the duration. We use scooters of no more than 4 years old or less than 30,000km. If you ride on long trips, the cost is 10$US/day (unlimited mileage). If you just ride in Hanoi as a commuter with no more than 1,500km.month then you pay 50$US/month.
Hello, I would like to rent a scooter for a two and half months in Hanoi. I am looking for some 150cc (Honda SH 150 at the best), comfortable for two people. Do you have anything like that? If so let me know please.
Best wishes,
Lea.
Dear Lea. We did provide this super expensive model (5,000$US new) before but nobody is willing to pay 300$US/month so we stopped providing it and will never provide that again. At the moment the biggest automatic scooter is 125cc and will be available from March 14th. It’s a Honda Lead for 80$US/month which is much more realistic and affordable. Let us know your thoughts please.
Hello,
I want to rent a scooter (automatic) for a day next week. Do I need a license? do I need to make a reservation?
Thank you.
Dear Dan. We currently have a 2015 Honda Vision available for 12$US/day. If you book, this scooter is available when you come, otherwise just show up and see what we have when you are here.
Please advise if the scooter (preferably Honda Vision 110cc) can be delivered at Noi Bai Airport? I want to rent it for 4 days from 21 Dec 2018 to 25 Dec 2018. Thanks.
Dear Shashank. Sorry, we don’t deliver bikes and this means you need to come to our Hanoi office to collect and return it. In addition, you need to pay for the rental to book a scooter.
If you have a Singaporean it’s not legal here. You need a 1968 Convention IDP. For more details please visit this link.
Hi,
What is the average weight your scooters can take?
Probably looking at the Honda Winner 150cc.
Thanks
Hello Kyle. Max load on this manual scooter is around 150kg. It’s fully manual so you need to know how to operate manual clutch and gear. What dates are you looking at?
We are are either looking at end November 2018 or Jan and March 2019. Just busy looking at different options that could be viable for us to get costing, thank you.
Dear,
I’m interested to rent a scooter for more than 2 months – Is that also available? Can I go with rented scooter abroad – Cambodia or Laos?
Thank you.
Jan.
Dear Jan. It’s only possible if you pay us the full deposit for the scooter and get a refund (minus rental plus any damage). We will need to provide you the blue card so it’s like you buy and sell back to us. From Vietnam to Laos is very easy at Tay Trang border gate, from Laos to Cambodia we have no idea. The cost of renting a 110cc semi-automatic scooter is 200$US/month or 400$US/month for long distance rental.
Im a student in hanoi univ, i will back to my country on 01/2015. So im really need a bike to live in here, but i dont have a license.
I want to learn how to ride a bike and want to borrow honda 50cc scoopy.(if available).
Most important thing for me is easy to ride, safety.
Can you give me some information of process (how to rental bike) and price(per month). (Via e-mail OK)
Thanks :)
Hello Kim. The Honda Scoopy was discontinued many years ago. It’s a very expensive scooter (over 3,000$US to buy) so the cost of renting this 50cc scooter was unrealistic (over 100$US/month). Therefore we didn’t use it. All our other 50cc semi-automatic scooters are not available and from next week we have the 110cc Honda Wave available. This bike offers much more power than 50cc and you can see photos here.
The police rarely stop you to check license unless you do something wrong. It’s more to do with personal medical insurance. You can’t get a local license with a tourist visa, even if you have a business visa, you need a company to sponsor you and wait 7-10 days after you arrive in Vietnam to do paperwork. This means nearly impossible to get a local license and therefore you can’t buy any insurance in Vietnam. If you don’t have a Vietnamese driving license, you can’t purchase any local bike insurance policy for you. Luckily, you can buy a personal medical insurance policy from companies like Allianz, CHI or World Nomads…They only request your country driving license. Vietnam driving license is a very complicated issue. Even Vietnam doesn’t recognize any foreign license but take it easy you will be ok. We don’t need a license to join our tours or hire our bikes. More details are at this link.
