USED TOURING MOTORBIKES FOR SALE IN HANOI
If guided or self-guided motorbike tours are not what you’re looking for, and you prefer to own a motorcycle for an extended journey, Vietnam Motorbike Rental has a selection of used touring motorcycles for sale. Whether you’re planning to ride across Vietnam or continue into neighboring countries, owning your own bike can be a practical and economical choice.
All of our motorcycles are genuine Japanese Honda models. We do not sell Chinese copies or poorly built motorcycles that are commonly found in some shops around Hanoi. While a genuine Honda costs more than a Chinese or Russian motorcycle, the difference in reliability, performance, safety, and riding comfort is well worth the investment.
A dependable motorcycle is especially important because your travel insurance may not always cover mechanical breakdowns or every situation you encounter on the road. Choosing a quality touring bike allows you to ride with greater confidence and keep up safely with local traffic.
If you decide to buy a motorcycle in Vietnam, you should also have a basic understanding of motorcycle maintenance and simple roadside repairs. Knowing how to perform routine checks and fix minor problems will make your journey much smoother, especially when traveling through remote areas.
Why Is Honda the Best Choice for a Used Touring Motorcycle?
Honda is by far the most popular motorcycle brand in Vietnam. In fact, many Vietnamese people use the word “Honda” to refer to a motorcycle, regardless of the actual brand. There is a good reason for this. Honda motorcycles are renowned for their reliability, durability, fuel efficiency, and excellent resale value. Simply look at the traffic on any Vietnamese road, and you’ll notice that around 70% of the motorcycles are Hondas.
Honda has produced a wide variety of models over the decades, with some dating back to the 1960s. However, most Hondas in Vietnam are step-through motorcycles and automatic scooters designed for daily commuting. Manual-clutch touring motorcycles are much less common and are often found in poor condition after years of heavy use.
Many standard road motorcycles have low handlebars, which can become uncomfortable for riders taller than 1.70 m (5 ft 7 in) during long days in the saddle. Although raised handlebars can improve comfort, they often affect the bike’s handling. For riders planning to explore rough roads and mountain tracks, dirt and dual-sport motorcycles are usually the best option, although they are much harder to find and significantly more expensive.
Buying a Honda is generally the safest investment because spare parts are available almost everywhere in Vietnam, and most local mechanics are familiar with servicing and repairing them. This makes maintenance easier and reduces the chances of being stranded with a mechanical problem.
Due to high import taxes – typically between 100% and 120% – imported touring motorcycles are considerably more expensive in Vietnam than in many other countries.
You are welcome to inspect and test ride our motorcycles Monday to Saturday, between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays.
Below is our current selection of used touring motorcycles and scooters for sale in Hanoi. Our smallest models are 110cc and 150cc, offering far better performance and reliability than the so-called “Honda Win” motorcycles sold by many shops. Most of these are actually Chinese copies, not genuine Honda motorcycles, and are often advertised misleadingly. All motorcycles are available for collection in Hanoi only.
2013-2017 Honda Wave & Honda Blade 110cc (US$550 – US$600 each)

Vietnam Motorbike Rental has been using these motorcycles since 2006 and regularly upgrades its fleet to newer models. As a result, all of the used motorcycles offered for sale have been professionally maintained throughout their service life. They are in excellent mechanical condition, fully serviced, fitted with all necessary replacement parts, and ready for many more kilometers on the road.
These motorcycles were manufactured in Vietnam between 2013 and 2015. They feature a single-cylinder, four-stroke, 110cc engine, a 4-speed semi-automatic transmission, and weigh approximately 100 kg. Depending on the model, they are equipped with either front disc or drum brakes and produce around 9 horsepower.
The 17-inch front and rear wheels provide better stability and handle potholes and uneven road surfaces much more comfortably than the small wheels found on most scooters. Every motorcycle comes with both an electric starter and a kick starter, making it easy to start even if the battery is weak.
Available in a variety of colors, each motorcycle has received regular servicing, routine maintenance, and all necessary replacement parts, ensuring it is in reliable working condition and ready for your next adventure.
2016-2020 Honda Winner/Winner X 150cc Manual-Clutch Touring Motorcycles (US$700-1,250 each)

The Honda Winner/Winner X 150cc is a manual-clutch, 6-speed (1–N–2–3–4–5–6) motorcycle first introduced by Honda Vietnam in 2016. It quickly became the main competitor to the Yamaha Exciter, which had dominated the 150cc underbone market for nearly a decade.
In our opinion, the Winner offers better engine performance, more modern technology, and higher overall build quality than its main rival. The only real drawbacks are its firm, narrow seat, which feels similar to that of a dirt bike, and styling that resembles a larger Honda Wave. These factors meant Honda priced the Winner very competitively, making it one of the best-value 150cc manual-clutch motorcycles available in Vietnam.
All motorcycles come with legal blue registration papers, allowing you to ride with confidence.
Mechanically, these motorcycles are in excellent condition and perform almost like new. With proper maintenance, they still have many years and thousands of kilometers of reliable service ahead of them.
Honda has earned its legendary reputation in Vietnam through exceptional reliability, durability, and low running costs. It is common to see Honda motorcycles that are 30 to 50 years old still being used every day, a testament to the brand’s outstanding engineering and longevity.
2015 – 2017 Honda XR150L Off-road Motorcycle (from 1,500$US each bike)

The Honda XR150L is one of the best motorcycles you can buy for riding in Vietnam. It is reliable, lightweight, rider-friendly, affordable, and capable of handling almost every type of road, from busy city streets to remote mountain trails.
Powered by Honda’s proven 150cc air-cooled, four-stroke engine, the XR150L is renowned for its durability and low maintenance costs. Spare parts are widely available throughout Vietnam, and almost every mechanic knows how to service it. This makes it an excellent choice for long-distance travel and adventure touring.
Weighing just 129 kg, the XR150L is much easier to handle than larger adventure bikes. Its upright riding position, long-travel suspension, and high ground clearance provide comfort on paved roads while giving you the confidence to explore gravel roads, dirt tracks, and mountain passes.
The XR150L is also ideal for intermediate riders. It is forgiving, easy to control, and comfortable enough for long days in the saddle. Whether you’re riding through Hanoi traffic or exploring Northern Vietnam’s back roads, it inspires confidence in a wide range of conditions.
Another major advantage is its affordability. It offers excellent fuel economy, low running costs, and outstanding value for money compared with larger dual-sport motorcycles.
If you plan to buy a motorcycle and ride around Vietnam, the Honda XR150L is a smart investment. It combines Honda’s legendary reliability with practical performance, making it one of the most popular and dependable motorcycles for adventure travel in Vietnam.
A Note About Used Touring Motorcycles
Many of the used touring motorcycles advertised for sale in Vietnam are actually Chinese copies of the Honda Win 100cc. While they may seem inexpensive, they often create more problems than enjoyment due to poor build quality, unreliable engines, and difficult-to-find compatible parts. For more information about these motorcycles, please follow this link.
At Vietnam Motorbike Rental, we have never used these Chinese copies in our fleet and do not consider them suitable touring motorcycles. Our smallest touring motorcycle is a genuine Honda 110cc, which offers far better reliability, durability, and riding comfort.
If you’re interested in purchasing one of our used touring motorcycles, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll be happy to provide more details and get back to you as soon as possible.

How much is the deposit fee for the rental of the honda blade?
Hi Mark. It depends on where you ride and duration of the rental. The deposit can either be your passport, country driving license or 5 million VN Dongs.
Motorcycle with sidecar. Any available for sale?
Hello Andrew. Sadly, our friend who dealt with side-cars already stopped doing it so we are not able to recommend anyone. However, you may try on Craiglist or some Facebook groups and contact individual sellers to purchase one. As we have no experience with side-cars, unfortunately, we couldn’t offer any further advice :( Good luck!
So my girlfriend and I are going to ride through Vietnam, top to bottom. I want a proper bike, no scooter. Can I rent in north and return in south? How much is rent on a bigger bik per month?
Hello Lew. If you want one-way rental we will need a full amount of the bike as a deposit and refund you the money minus rental plus train shipping back at the end of the trip. This is like a buy back office. We have no office down in HCMC so sadly we can’t have a better option.
Hello
I am interested for the Honda NC700X.
I have 3 questions:
1. I am Romanian cotizen with international motorcycle driving licence obtained in South Korea and legaly married vietnamese wife. Can I legaly buy this bike by myself, although having tourist visa only.
2. Can my wife buy this big motorbike on her name? She has got international car driving license obtained in South Korea. Is there any condition for her to be allowed to buy this bike.
3. If answer to the above is No, can my father in law buy this bike. He has got bietnamese car licence. Any other condition needed?
Hello Marius. Sorry this bike was sold one year ago. We just deleted it from our website. We are sorry for any inconvenience :)
Good morning,
We are moving to Hanoi at the end of February. I would like to buy a new electric scooter (moped). Do you sell such scooters? If not, could you indicate me a trustworthy shop where I could buy one? Best regards, Sophie Dufour.
Dear Sophie. If you meant electric bike then sadly we don’t use this type of bike. However, there are many shops on Ba Trieu street that you can buy a new one from around 450$US. Good luck.
I heard that it is illegal for an expat to buy a motorbike in Vietnam, is it true?
and do you rent long term bikes? and how much per month if you do rent?
Do you have to have a permenant address in Vietnam to get a driver’s license?
Thank you for your help.
Sylvana
Hello Sylvana. Yes, you can’t own a bike in your name if you don’t have a resident card or a work permit. Tourists can’t register motorbikes in their names. However you can hire motorbikes which were registered in Vietnamese names. We offer long-term rentals from 50$US, 100$US and 120$US a month for expats working in Hanoi. These are semi-automatic or fully automatic scooters. International driving license is valid in Vietnam from 2015 and if you want a local Vietnamese driving license you need to have a bushiness visa and a work permit or a resident card as mentioned at this link. Let us know if you require more details.
Is the Baja Honda 250 still for sale? Price? please email me back.
Hello Mike. Yes, we have some for sale and the cost is from 1,500$US to 2,500$US each depending on conditions. All of these bikes come with fully legal papers, not like at least 90% of bikes without papers. If interested please call me on 0913047509 to view or test ride. Thanks.
Hi,
We are looking to buy a new motor tricycle?
Can you tell us where to find a shop in Hanoi?
Thanks,
P. De Roo
Dear Paul de Roo. Imported motorbikes from 150cc in Vietnam come with 120% taxes. There is no new side-car for sale in Vietnam and if there is one the cost must be from over 30,000$US. That’s too expensive and unfortunately no company imports them for sale in Hanoi. Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.
