TOURING MOTORCYCLES FOR INTERMEDIATE RIDERS IN VIETNAM
Intermediate riders are riders who have previous manual clutch motorbike riding experience. Furthermore, they have ridden touring motorcycles for some time in their home or foreign countries. In addition, these bikers can handle simple mechanic repairs for road or trail bikes. However, they may not ride a motorbike every day.
The minimum of rental duration is for at least two days due to limited parking space in our area and our working hours (8am – 5om Monday to Saturday). Please let us know your dates, duration, and where you ride so we can provide a quotation.
The photo below shows typical Vietnamese road traffic they can handle.
For the best experience, intermediate riders should ride touring motorcycles or dirt or trail bikes from 125cc to 250cc, with manual clutch. As a note, automatic or semi-automatic scooters are not good for long trips. Scooters normally have low ground clearance, small wheels, poor suspension, and less power.
In addition, these riders can fix some simple things. These include chain tension adjustment, oiling the drive chain, checking ignition, changing the spark plug, CDI unit, and a broken clutch cable, etc.
The last thing they need is to learn some road rules before commencing the trips.
To know which motorbike/scooter is the best for you, please watch the below video.
TOURING MOTORCYCLES FOR INTERMEDIATE RIDERS IN HANOI
Touring Scooters
In fact, touring motorbikes are standard bikes for paved roads and small roads. However, don’t expect them to work on dirt roads due to ground clearance, suspension, and riding position. In general, these are the best choice for intermediate riders for on-road riding.
Touring scooter Honda Winner / Winner X 150cc, made in Vietnam, 2016 – 2022 models. Daily rate: 15$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: 100$US (for commuting in Hanoi only, up to 1,500km per month).
Off-road Motorbikes
In general, these dirt bikes are able to get you anywhere. In fact, they are the ideal choice if you are somewhere between intermediate riders and expert riders. Despite the higher costs, they are worth the extra.
Dirt bike Honda XR150 150cc, made in China by Sundiro Honda, 2017-2020 models. Daily rate: 20$US (short or long trips, unlimited mileage). Monthly rate: not available.

Hello Valentin. Sadly, we have only one office in Hanoi and don’t offer one-way motorbike rentals. You may google and contact Tigit Motorbikes who offers this kind of rental. Good luck!
Hi, myself and my friend would like to hire a couple of bikes for 5 or 7 days, how much is a local guide per day please? We are looking to come in May this year.
Thank you.
Hello Peter,
Thank you for contacting us.
We have bikes from 110 to 250cc and a guide for you. Please have a look here for more details.
The border is open from March 15th and you perhaps can apply for a visa now. then we work on a deposit and can ride together in May.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
I would like to rent a motorbike from Ho Chi Minh to Dong Hoi area. I will then take the plane or train to come to Hanoi as if I do not have enough time to drive all the way up to Hanoi by motorbike.
I plan to leave Ho Chi Minh November 3 and arrive in Dong Hoi November 14.
Is that possible and how much does it approximately cost per day?
I have a German motorbike driving license and international driving license.
Hello Alexa,
Thank you for contacting us.
We are based in Hanoi only and unfortunately haven’t provided a one-way motorbike hire yet. This was mentioned clearly on our website.
In reality, there are some companies that offer one-way rental but sadly they don’t use the same quality or bikes like our fleet so sadly we can’t recommend. In addition, we don’t work with anyone and therefore know nothing about how they do business. Luckily, you could easily find them through Google.
Let us know if we could assist you in any other way.
I’m planning a trip from HCMC to Hanoi and i was wondering if there was a monthly rental available.
Sadly, no monthly rate for long trips. In addition, you need to pay extra transport to ship the bike down there and pay a deposit for it. We refund you in cash minus rental.
Good day,
My girlfriend and I are visiting Vietnam in August (10th-24th) and we plan on touring on a Motorcycle. I am an experienced rider but my girlfriend is not. We will be looking to hire a bike large enough for the two of us after packing light. We like the sound of your company and after doing research have decided that we would like to hire one of your motorcyles.
Our tour will take us from Ha long bay up to SAPA and to Ha Giang where we plan on doing the bike loop before heading back to Hannoi.
What motorcyle would you recommend and could you please provide me with a quotation for the above mentioned dates? Our budget is somewhat limited so I would appreciate a quotation for the most basic bike able to undergo this type of journey for two and a middle of the price ranged bike too, please.
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Dear Patrick.
We use only near new Honda XR125L, Honda XR150L and Honda CRF250L dirt bikes or the older but still reliable Honda XR250’s. They were made by Japanese Honda company, not the Chinese copies. We don’t use other brands due to part availability and reliability. However, none of our bikes is really suitable for riding two up. If you ride two up the pillion passenger won’t be comfortable and not enough room for rider’s legs. This is sadly an honest advice. A standard touring motorbike for two people is from 650cc and this is very expensive in Vietnam due to 120% taxes. FYI, I just bought a new Kawasaki Versys 650cc for my personal use and the cost is 14,000$US!!! That’s way too much for business.
We suggest the below bikes for two people.
Honda dirt bike 2016-2017 XR150L 150cc manual: 25$US/day/bike.
Honda dirt bike 2003-2006 XR250 250cc manual: 35$US/day/bike.
Honda dirt bike 2015-2017 CRF250L manual: 50$US/day/bike.
To make sure you have bikes when you come, we would like to have bikes booked and paid for before they are not available. If you wait until you arrive in Hanoi then there is no guarantee that the bikes you want are available. We will send instructions if you agree to proceed. You can pay with credit cards online, Western Union cash transfer or even a traditional bank transfer.
We don’t keep your passport as security deposit but need ID cards or country driving licenses.
It’s possible to leave bags you don’t need behind at our office when you ride on your trip, we have spaces for you.
We hope that’s all clear about your motorbike rental service but let us know if you have more questions.
Regards,
Anh Wu,
Sales Manager.
Do you have saddle bags for any of your bikes? If hiring long term I’d like to be able to carry small bags etc with me.
Regards.
Hello Jon. Traffic is very busy here so saddle bags only make the handling very hard. You just tie down a bag at the rear luggage rack of the bike. When do you want a bike and for how long? Also your riding skills please?
Hi, my friends and I wanted to rent motorcycles/Scooters (Preferably Honda Winner with luggage carrier as shown in the picture). I am from India and will be carrying my International driving permit along with regular Driving permit. We wanted it from August 10-15th or slightly more. Please give me details of the following:
1. Do I have to pick these up in Hanoi and Drop them off at Hanoi only?
2. Will the above mentioned driving permits be enough?
3. Can I ride with a pillion for long distances on the given motorcycle/scooter, over hilly terrains?
4. What will be the cost of rental for 5 days, 7 days and 10 days?
Hello Sai,
Honda Winner is a manual clutch scooter. DO you ride a manual bike?
To answer your questions:
1. Yes, you need to get it and return in Hanoi.
2. Sadly, none of your licenses is valid here. Vietnam signed the 1968 Convention IDP and your Indian one is 1949 Convention.
3. This is a scooter type so it won’t handle rough roads well and especially when you ride two up. Get some real bikes like Honda XR150L (25$US/day) or CRF250L (50$US/day). Saving is a pain in your case.
4. Honda WInner is our cheapest bike, 15$US/day. A discount is only available if you rent it over 10 days (10% less).
Hi,
My brother and I are looking to rent motorbikes in Hanoi between February 16-19. The rental would be for 7 days. Please email me so we can discuss terms and price and set up a reservation. We look forward to doing business with you.
Thanks,
Justin Hauser.
Dear Justin. Please check your email for our reply. We just sent a detailed reply. Let us know your thoughts please.
I’m planning a trip around Southeast Asia in August. I’m interested in renting an XR250 for about 10 days or so. I’m a very experienced rider and have ridden across several countries. What is the cost for that? You guys only operate out of Hanoi? Nothing in Ho Chi Minh City?
Thanks,
Michael
Hello Michael. Yes, you are right that we are based in Hanoi only. You need to collect and return bikes in our Hanoi office only. The cost for XR250 is 35$US, sadly no discount for contact of less than two weeks.
